Regional Directorates of the State Forests
The organisational unit of the State Forest National Forest Holding subject to the Directorate-General of the State Forests in Warsaw. The State Forests have a three-tier structure. In Poland there are 17 Regional Directorates of the State Forests. The supervising institution is the Directorate-General of the State Forests in Warsaw. Regional directorates supervise the forest districts.
Residual trees
Trees over 20 years of age (with merchantable timber volume)growing in non-afforested forest areas and in forest plantations not included in the species composition; and trees aged above 20 years which are spread in stands individually or in groups.
Riparian forest
Forest community, occurring near rivers and streams, in the range of flood waters which bring fertile mud. Almost all riparian habitats are associated with flowing waters. Usually the riparian forests constitute the following: alder, poplar, willow, elm, ash, oak.
