Data for Report on Forest Condition

The condition of forests in Poland is subject to annual assessment by the government. As part of this assessment, pursuant to the Act of 28 September 1991 on Forests (Journal of Laws No. 45, item 435 of 2005, as amended) the State Forests Holding is obliged to prepare an annual report on the condition of the Polish forests. The report is prepared on the basis of materials of the Ministry of the Environment, Directorate General of State Forests, Forest Research Institute, Central Statistical Office, Bureau for Forest Management and Geodesy and the international statistics. The reports published in the BDL portal supplement the previous Report and are based on various source data:

• updated stand inventory data regarding forests managed by the State Forest Holding,
• updated stand inventory data regarding forests not managed by the State Forest Holding,
• data on environmental protection obtained from the General Directorate for Environmental Protection,
• information on forest fires obtained from the forest fire information system operating at the Forest Research Institute.
